Collier Inn at Useppa Island

Has anyone ever visited or stayed here and what were your impressions?

Day tripped there about 13 yrs ago.
VERY tiny place---the island--basically a golf course and small community of simple but expensive homes. Small beach. Looked very affluent, and elite.
If you are a golfer and want to go to a quiet place it might be great.

Any new experiences on this island? I will be there for two nights next week.

We enjoyed relaxing on this private island. We drove the one highway on Pine Island, both south then north and got to the location furtherest north where we took a water taxi to Useppe. Residents were bringing groceries and flowers to plant to the island via the water taxi. There is no longer a golf course but there is lot of history on this island. Day trips come in and many visit the museum. Hurrican Charlie hit this island in 2004 and there is good pictoral documentation. Saw numerous turtles in the open areas and right in people's yards. The Collier Inn faces the East, and our second floor veranda looked out to the most beautiful blue/green water. We sat at watched the dolphins play and make their way past the island. The dock in front of the Inn is where the small barges bring trees, furniture, appliances. Very interesting. The menu at the Collier Inn was exceptional, the staff was accomodating and professional. Luckily on March 19th and 20th, the weather was in the high 70's with sunshine. The best experience of our week long visit to FL.
