Clothing for Texas

Considering some repacking for the trip to Texas next Wednsday. The weather forecast for the time we will be in Fort Worth is for high temperatures in the mid 60ies. For me that's short & t-shirt weather but what about the locals? I don't want to look out of place with everyone else wearing trousers or blue jeans. Will there be patio dining or will everything move inside with the foregoing temperatures?

A week out is too soon for any sort of accuracy in weather forecasting. I'll be in Dallas from Friday-Wed, and am bringing a variety of warm and cold clothing...(actually coming from San Antonio, 60's sound cold, that's jeans and sweater weather here. LOL) Check www.weatherunderground.com closer to your departure date for a more accurate forecast, and know this time of year in Texas, temperatures can be all over the board, and all in the same day!

Mid 60's is not shirt & t-shirt weather in FW. There can also be considerable wind. You will fit in better with trousers or blue jeans with that forecast.

Highs in the mid 60's means it'll be pretty cold at night. Wear your shorts during the day if you want but definitely bring jeans for nighttime. And yes, there will still be patio dining. At least here in Austin it doesn't shut down for 60's so I'm assuming the same for Fort Worth.

Patio dining favs that I can recommend in FW:
-Joe T Garcia's - mexican, poolside, no credit cards accepted, can be fun party crowd
-Reata's - gourmet western, downtown rooftop, can be more expense account crowd
-Flying Saucer - intl menu beer pub, downtown, college crowd sports bar with expense account crowd during week
-8.0 - sometimes live band, downtown, a place where they distribute complimentary Dallas socialiate magazines

Plan for cooler and warmer just in case. I know Austin has had warm ups lately, some not predicted by the weather websites/ channel, LOL. Layers are your friends.

I wouldn't put much stock in the long range weather forecasts. As we say in Texas, if you don't like the weather just wait a few minutes. If in fact temps are in the 60's you won't see too many people in Fort Worth wearing shorts & T-shirts but if that's what you want to wear you won't feel out of place. However, you can just as easily see temps one day in the 60's and have it in the 80's the following day so bring a pair of shorts, otherwise wear jeans, everybody else will be wearing them - lots of cowboys & cowgirls in Fort Worth. As for dining if the weather is decent you'll find some patio dining available, it will depend on the restaurant - not all places offer that option. Of course, if it's raining you'll probably want to dine indoors.

Thank you all for the response. An adjustment will be made adding a couple of long sleeve shirts, windbreaker, & blue jeans. Looking forward to the trip & regardless what Mother Nature does we will have fun with the exception of possibly a tornado heading for the place we are dining alfresco.
