Closest beach to Disney World?

Family trip to DW in a few weeks will include grown kids plus 4 grandkids ages 2 and under! We've driven from Daytona to DW and back, but I was wondering if there was a closer public beach that we can get to easily. Thanks!

Cocoa Beach should be just under an hour.

Cocoa is your best bet, but if you head a little south on A1A, you'll find some public beaches that are a bit less crowded. Depends on what kind of beach atmosphere you want.

Either way, it's quicker than to Daytona.

I' d go with Cocoa area of nearby. Personally, we love the gulf coast Madeira beach, but the Atlantic is closer.

Not only is Cocoa Beach closer, it is better than Daytona IMO. Consider Lori Wilson Park while there. http://www.beachhunter.net/cocoa-bea...ilson-park.htm

Cape Canaveral is the best. Free parking, bathrooms, showers and less people.

My beach is Playalinda, go to Garden st exit, Titusville and head due east. Federal park so five dollars to get in but it is pristine, natural, great water, surf and sand.

Orlando_Vic - Thanks for the memory jog! We lived in Merritt Island for 2+ years and one of my best friends was Lori's daughter, Kim.

flpab - too funny! Not sure she would remember me (it's been a few years!), but she might remember my mom. Kim and I were friends and were in Brownies together.

Playalinda Beach is a good place to celebrate your birthday.

We do enjoy going to Cocoa Beach, but they did have a shark attack(in shallow water) there over the weekend. But shark attacks can happen anywhere.
