Cleveland hotel
Can anyone recommend a hotel within walking distance of Jacobs Field?
We usually stay in the Cleveland area on our way back to the Chicago suburbs from my daughter's college in Massachusetts. My son checked the Indians' website and found that they'll be home the night we pass through after dropping our daughter in September. It looks like ticket availability won't be a problem. But getting to Cleveland in time for the game may be. We figured it'd be easier all the way around if we could stay within walking distance of the ballpark.
Is it realistic to think we can find a place to stay within walking distance? And, if so, is it safe to walk after a night game?
Thanks.

The Ritz Carlton is near the gateway to Jacobs Field as well as about FIVE or SIX other nationally known hotels. The Hilton Garden Inn and the Residence Inn are also close.
And, yes, it is safe....there will be hundreds of fans departing when you are...and lots of police etc. That part of town is well lite and o.k. It is NOT the south side of Chicago. It is our safest part of town...our main tourist and visitors area... like Michigan Ave is for you but on a very very small scale. I'd call the Ritz and if the rates are too high ask for the other hotels closest to Jacobs. The ones I have mentioned are about 3 blocks away...and there are cabs as well. I am a world traveller and it is so nice to help people coming to my hometown area.
My daughter lived on La Salle street in downtown Chicago for 7 years and her sister lives in St. Charles. I came on this site to research the Berkshires... wondering if it is worth the trip...But, have fun with your family ..hope I have helped. Hope the Indians win!!!!!

I second the Renaissance. There is a "gateway to jacob's field" in Tower City (which is connected to the Renaissance). So half of your walk to Jacobs is inside. It's perfectly safe to walk around all of downtown Cleveland. Especially at game time.

Thanks, guys! Great suggestions! You've been very helpful.
And, BTW, jibby, the Berkshires are well worth a trip! Our daughter goes to school just on the edge of that area (in the Pioneer Valley). It's a beautiful area. We've fallen in love with it!
