Clearwater in February? Worth it?

An amazing fare just popped up for Florida in Jan. till Feb 6. We can stay 5 days, including travel days. I know Clearwater in February is cool, but warmer than Ohio. Wondering if I should pull the trigger or should I just put it off for warmer beach weather? Advice? Thx!

Winter in Florida is a crapshoot. This weekend in Orlando it is supposed to be in the 80's, it could just as easily be in 30's or 40's. It could also be cold one day and warm up the next. It rarely stays cold for more than a few days at a time though. The water in the Gulf will probably be a little chilly for swimming but most places have heated pools.

If your expectations are for a beach vacation, then I wouldn't chance it as the water will be chilly and the air temperature fluctuates too much in the middle of winter. Miami is a better bet but still taking a chance. If you aren't concerned about beach weather and just want a break from the cold and snow of the north, then it could be fine. If you really want to make sure you have beach weather you need to go to Puerto Rico or south, forget Florida altogether. The Bahamas can even be chilly at that time of year.

Too bad it isn't for southeast Florida where it would be warmer.

I'd do it in a heartbeat!
Here's last year's Feb. temps -
http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/cle...eather/2230942

Above 80 degrees - 9 days
In the 70s - 11 days
In the 60s - 7 days
In the 50s - 1 day (58 degrees)

With 17 days out of 28 with temps at 75 degrees or higher, I'd go. 75 degrees in Feb. is plenty warm enough for me - and no temps below 58 isn't bad.

I am taking advantage of wonderful airfare to Florida in February!

We have always wanted to swim with manatees which is best during the winter months and we are also going to spend a few days in Savannah.

If you are interested in activities that are not beach related then the airfare bargain just can't be beat!!
