Christmas vacation-Maui or Carribean?

My husband and 2 teenage boys are using points to go somewhere nice for 10 days during our boys Christmas break. This is the best time for all our schedules. My oldest will be a Senior in high school so we want to make this special but can't decide between Maui ( husband and I have been but not the boys ) or Turqs and Caicos or maybe Costa Rica. Any thoughts or suggestions on places?

Using points as in airline miles? Have you already checked what's available? Getting 4 seats over Christmas won't be easy.

Points could also mean CapOne or other non-blacked out redemptions (buy the ticket, use points to "pay" for it).

TurKs and Caicos are a bit dull. Haven't seen the same said for Costa Rica.

I'd go to Belize. But where are you coming from? Your post is tagged for Cali, NY and Florida, none of which are in Hawai'i or the Caribbean.

It could also mean hotel points which is why I was hoping the OP would clarify so we know in advance if there are restrictive parameters. But in any case, out of those 3 options, I think CR would be the most interesting for teenage boys followed by Maui.

Teens like Waikiki. They can get around a good bit on their own. (I'd insist they stick together.) Pearl Harbor, Punchbowl, surfing lessons, body boarding. You don't need a car within Honolulu.

Maui gets booked up very early. Winter isn't best season for Kauai. Big Island would be fun if you can still get a rental car and can stay Kohala Coast with a night or two in Volcano.

We fly via DFW to get AA's 767 nonstop -- routes into HNL and OGG.

We used to stay St. Thomas/St. John or take a cruise when our DS was on Christmas holiday break, but have gone to Hawaii most winters since DH retired.

Turks and Caicos is amazing, and, in fact, is our new favorite place, but it is very expensive. if you do decide to go there, make sure you do lots of research.

We love Maui, and our teens also loved it.
