Christmas in NYC with 14 month old

We will be in Manhattan (midtown west) over the weekend. Although it is a family tradtion to travel to the city at Christmas this is the first time we will with our 14 month old granddaughter and wonder if anyone has any suggstions on some fun things to do besides shopping, and walking around. What can you do with a toddler? She is a very mellow child and quite exceptional for her age. (of course this is Grandma's opinion)

I do think 14 months old is a bit young. Maybe take a picture of her near the tree for a momento. Really, in another year maybe.

Go and have fun. From a family values standpoint, just spending time with grandparents is fun for babies(I"m sure you spoil them). Leaving them home would be a worse choice. If it's ok for Seinfeld to haul his kid around the city, so can you. Merry christmas!

Do not attempt FAO Schwarz this weekend with a stroller. It will be a madhouse! The tree at Rock Center would be great as would watching the skaters in Wollman Rink in Central Park. You will find unbelievable crowds this weekend so I would do any of the major sites very very early or late. Good luck and have fun!

Go see the big tree in Rockefeller Center. I'm 50, and I actually remember seeing it when I was THREE. The only things I remember from that trip as a toddler is the tree and the subway because I almost got separate from my Mom!

Donna,
The Bronx Zoo has a christmas light display that is awesome! I have a 14 month old and she was just facinated by all the lights. If you go...try to get there about 3pm and you can purchase tickets for evening admission. (I think they were $10?).
Nina...I had the same thoughts as you...I live here with a 14 month old. I guess that makes me a stupid resident with a stroller.
