Christmas decoration dates in NYC

We are taking my granddaughter to NYC and she really wants to go when all the Christmas decorations are up. Due to family obligations the best time to go is after New Years from 1/2/13 - 1/6/13. Is the Rockefeller Center tree still up and are the store windows still decorated the days after New Years Day? Thanks.

Yes, the decorations (at least in Rockefeller Center) will probably still be up on the 2nd, but the tree will come down by the end of that week. Department store windows are harder. They may be covered by then. I can't recall exactly when they come down.

In 2011 the tree stayed up until January 7th

I couldn't find the official press release fom this past season, but at least until January 6th "the twelfth day of Christmas" would be a safe bet.

Store windows may or may not be up, depending on what kind of sales they are having and might want to promote in the window

The tree will be up - but some stores will have changed their windows to cruise wear by then - esp the more upscale. There is no telling if the best windows - Saks and Lord & Taylor - will still be up. If it matters that much you might want to call them. Also - I'm not sure when the other trees (museums etc come down - but I would guess they stay up until the Epiphany).

If the Rock Center tree was up until the 7 th last year, then it's probably up until the 6 th this year.

The most elegant tree is at the Met Museum. Maybe you can send them an e-mail and inquire.
