Chicago Restaurants
I have a nine-hour lay-over in Chicago on a Friday afternoon. I do not think I can get in to Wrigley Field (the Cubs have a game that day), so I want to go to a restaurant. An old and famous Chicago restaurant, medium priced. If I was making this recommendation for someone going to San Francisco, I would recommend Tadich Grill or Original Joe's. If you are familiar with these places, can you recommend similar places in Chicago? I'm not too hip and I like my martinis dry. Thanks.

Famous and old makes me think of our steakhouses. Gibsons, Gene & Georgetti's, Smith & Wollensky are a few. But none of them would qualify as "medium" priced.
Another thought is to go to the Wrigleyville area, and even if you don't have Cubs tickets it's always fun to hang out at one of the many bars in the neighborhood and watch the game on TV.
For example:
Goose Island

or
Cubby Bear

Or these ideas which combine baseball and food. (You can take the blue line from the airport to Addison but it is bit tricky on game days to get back and forth the couple of miles acroos on that street to the ballpark on game days)
Harry Carey's (in River North, take blue line train to Clark and Lake and walk north a couple of blocks) http://www.harrycarays.com/restaurants_chicago.html
Harry Carey's (in Rosemont near the airport, cabbies don't necessarily like those short trips but if you don't want to travel all the way into the city it's a good second choice) http://www.harrycarays.com/restaurants_rosemont.html
Traditional style Chicago steak and italian.
