I will happily change the color of my Sox for at least the next couple of weeks. Go White Sox! your fans deserve it!

oh, and I do think Paul Konerko would look just fabulous if his Sox were Red in 2006...

I'm way too old for Paulie anyway, but I have seen all the White Sox of 2005 up close and at the same level a few times. Many baseball players are a lot smaller than they look from the stands or on TV, that's for sure. Except for Frank Thomas- who is absolutely humongous. Aaron Rowand is short and has big shoulders/chest with short legs-but man, do they work well in the field.

Paul is a free agent after these playoffs and I sure hope the *SOX *WHITE
open their pockets. He is the one I bet we will lose. I hope not.

I knew he was married, but regardless he has always been a terrific regular guy as well as a great baseball player.
That is the very best thing about this team, they all seem to have regular sized heads. Except maybe for Ozzie, but then most of the time only he knows what he just said anyway. They are starting to call it Spanglish.

I have a student worker who has been in love with Buhrle for a couple of years. When he got engaged she actually cried.

I think we can do it. Lots of Cleveland fans and Cubs fans are climbing on the bandwagon. I read the MSN east coast commentator this morning- and he doesn't even know anything about the Cell's makeover- was describing something that was gone 4 or 5 years ago. That's about how much interest or accuracy gets put into White Sox reports. We are used to it and just love the fun for the most part.

Welcome all who want to join! We need a Midwest National Series- it would be a blast!

I like Kenerko but my heart belongs to Aaron R. Go Sox Go! I can't believe that we are leaving for vacation Thursday and will miss most of the series! (Not that that is keeping me home from Venice!) At least we'll be home in time for the World Series! (hey, I'm an optimist!)

That is so funny, swalter518- because as jealous as I am of Venice, my first thought was. NOT NOW!

My favorite time to travel was March and/or October. NO LONGER! It will be Feb/March or early Nov. LOL! I'll yell for both of us.

My oldest son is coming back from FL today with his entire family a day early. I know, we have been sick like this for years.

So glad you got to meet KAL. I think our GTG in Dec. is going to be a very good time, makai1.

And swalter518, have a best of a lifetime trip to Venice and enjoy being a couple.

Let's just hope the hotel has Skynews or BBC international for scores-otherwise I'll have to call my brother every other day for scores.

JJ5 - if it can't be my Sox then I'm glad its your Sox. The White Sox clearly wanted it more than the Red. Good Luck. We are rooting for Chicago here in Boston.

JJ5,
I've been thinking about you!!

I called my friend from earlier in the thread who had broken her ankle & caused us to skip our trip to Chicago this year & said... you know I forgave you for that, right? I'm over it. I'm mad again! How I wish we'd gotten a chance to go this year! She said she'd been waiting on my call for weeks.

My boyfriend (inexperienced when it comes to baseball) will flip to the game while watching other things and come to the other room where I am watching the game & say GOD! It's only the 2nd inning... the game has been on for 2 hours! I just smile and say "I know! Isn't it great!"

Sorry, R5, I have to go for Houston, but still pulling for White Sox in the end!!

WOO HOO White Sox! >< I'm speechless.

JJ, I too am quite impressed with Konerko... what a guy! MVP and he wants to give it to "the big 4 guys"! Class act.

Baseball boring??

R5, the Cards might yet pull it out!! Remember the 03 Cubs & 04 Red Sox...

What a glorious day we had in Chicago yesterday!!

JJ5. I think you were on here lamenting the fate of the White Sox last year sometime (was it after the Illini lost in the NCAAs? - I can't remember). Anyway, I remembered part of it and was thinking that you must be thrilled right now. Being a Red Sox fan, I wasn't happy to see the other Sox get out of the first series, but then I was pulling for them after Boston lost. Of all things, I went out to eat right after the Red Sox lost and ended up in line right behind a White Sox fan from Chicago. Good luck to your team! It is time to end another long drought.

My brother went to one of the games in CA (he defected to the coast but still remains a Sox fan). I can't believe it, I hope this is our year

Congrats! As a former Chicagoan I'm pulling for the WS. (I was a Cubs fan, but that was many many years ago, before I became a Baltimore/American League fan.)

My absence from this board has been totally baseball related. My White Sox flags are flying both in IL and in MI.

GO GO GO WHITE SOX, WE'RE WITH YOU ALL THE WAY!

And all the way is where we are going!

If anyone has the time, reread this thread from the beginning. How many times in your life to your really get to be an "I told you so". And May 5 was the first post date. I knew it then. Watching baseball all my life and at every level, I just knew.

My sons and some others had started to lose faith in Sept, but I TOLD them and I told them. All my kids went to the 14-2 Boston game and also to the one California/White Sox loss 3-2 at home.

As I TRAVEL for Baseball next Saturday to U.S. Cellular field and the World Series, I will be thinking about all you baseball fans and wish you could be right with me.

I hope St. Louis can pull it off and give the old Stadium I love there a good (but not great) send-off. If it is Houston, well then we will be playing in the first World Series ever played in Texas.

4 aces in our hand and Chicago is HAPPY!

We are going to win this World Series too! And maybe even get Paulie back.

newsorleanlady, you would LOVE the atmosphere and the pitching talk. I sure wish Mike Royko was still around for this one.

OK, I'm glad the White Sox are in the World Series, even if the Cubs didn't make it this year. But I've got my fingers crossed that their opponent will be my St. Louis Cardinals if they can win over the Astros. Go Cards!

The real difference between a Red Sox and White Sox fan...you knew in May that your team was going all the way this year. I didn't feel good about my team until Johnny Damon hit a grand slam in game 7 of the ALCS last year.

I think you will be getting the Astros, but either way its going to be a great series. The White Sox are the better team, so hopefully the better team will win. Enjoy the games and your trip!

But oh, china cat, I am a dinasour. And no one listened to a dinasour. Even now, those of little faith abound. If it hasn't been "so" or "popular" in the last ten years, it mostly does not exist in this populace's expectations or perception.

I made about 3 or 4 bets with different people for free dinners out of my choice at different points in the season. I can still get people to take me on- believe it or not! My guy's son-in-law is a Chicago EMT/Fireman and a life-long White Sox kid from Evergreen Park- and he still doesn't believe it and is expecting to lose.

We have 4 aces and we need to win 4 more games- what is the problem!

AND Ryan, where are you? You said you would talk to me in September. You didn't. Nor in October. I think recognition is in order. We have had a mountain to climb with Kenny Williams and Reinsdorf alone.

White Sox-Astros could be another '91 Braves-Twins series with lots of outstanding pitching and high tension. I wonder whether last night will cause a major momentum shift in the NCLS. Man, that was a smash by Pujols.

Pujols has always been wicked. My dad stated he was the best player in baseball about 3 or 4 years ago. The man is 86, but he sure isn't dumb.

The Astros look more hitterish to me, but I think the Cards are actually a better team but just not on a good vibe or with fire/energy right now. The Astros look like they are having more fun, and I think they will win just because of that.

Some of the Angels games were very tense as you describe. It is going to be a wonderful and fully "unjaded" World Series.

FTI- The White Sox have sold a World Series Seat to everyone who signs up for a package season ticket for the 2006-07 season and thus only 2000-4000 seats are left for the Big BUCKS etc. Good for them, as they are not forgetting their "real" fan base and that fan base's income level. My kids come onto the Ticketmaster line from Minnesota or Milwaukee and stand a chance.
