Chicago in May

We are going to Chicago in May and would like to stay on the Magnificient Mile in a 4 or 5 star hotel. Would like to book this with Priceline. What is the lowest you have heard of them accepting? How early should we book the room?

Go to BiddingForTravel.com and read and then post this question. Make sure you read the Hotel FAQ or you will get yelled at.

We are going to Chicago in May, as well. I booked a "suite" at Omni Chicago on the Mag Mile for an entertainment book rate of $139.00/night.

There are NO 5 star hotels on Priceline.
So don't hold your breath.
Chicago's best hotels need not beg for business thru PL.
If you want the Four Seasons or Peninsula or Ritz Carlton, you won't find dirt cheap rates.

If you want a good hotel at a good price, places like the Omni (which is an all suites hotel...actually they are what most would call a junior suite), Embassy Suites (2), W hotels and such are fine and can be had for competitive rates absent a convention in town.

Hi Lois, we "won" the Hyatt (PL 4*) hotel for last October 5 nights for $65/night. I think I could have even gotten it lower, but I was bidding to duplicate a previous bidder's "win" for a very cool 3*. Priceline did me the big favor of "upgrading" me. It worked out fine though. We are Hyatt Gold Passport members which put us on the Gold Passport floor and we had complimentary coffee each morning. The hotel was perfectly located for what we wanted to do (Mag Mile shopping, theaters, etc.) Also, our room was VERY clean, as was the bath, and we had a nice view of the water. I started my bidding in early September because Oct. was a busy Convention month in Chicago and I didn't want to get "stuck". Do not post a "how low can I bid" question on bidding for travel - you will most surely get yelled at. However, do look though the post to see what types have bids have won which hotels etc. Good Luck!
