Chicago Hotel - Omni or Amalfi??

Hi all,
When I started looking into Chicago for our trip I posted a similar question here a while back but now we're under a week away from our trip and I need to make a decision on whivh hotel we should 'keep'.

I have 3 bookings
1. Amalfi at $119 + taxes
2. Omni $129 + taxes, includes $25 breakfast coupon in the rate
3. Marriott Downtown Millenium at $109 + taxes

I'm inclined to go with either the Amalfi or the Omni but which is the nicest / best hotel? Which has the nicest rooms???

I just cannot seem to make a decision on this so all advice appreciated!!!

We stayed at the Omni last summer and loved it. Its location is great and the staff was very friendly. Our room was huge, with a separate sleeping and sitting area. I highly recommend it.

They are both nice.

I love to be on the River myself. And so LOVE the Omni.

If it is warm weather time and you have such river/walk area access as the Omni that time of year- I would probably take that one.

My one friend goes each Dec. to shop and Omni is her absolute first choice.

I think Amalfi is probably more personal- smaller.

Look at their websites and you will probably see the room styles/figurations.

I'm confused, JJ5--the only Omni in Chicago I know is the one on Michigan Avenue at Huron. What hotel on the river are you thinking of?

There was another on the river. You're right, as I think it is the Renaissance now. I still think of it as the Omni. Sorry for the confusion.

In cold weather the river location doesn't matter anyway. Better to be on Huron then.

Hi all,
Thanks so much for the replies. It seems that the concensus is that we should go for the Omni.
Just before I make my mind up - if anyone has stayed in the Amalfi, what do you think??

Thanks again.

I stayed in the Amalfi two years ago and loved it. Very trendy and a nicer staff than most "trendy" hotels seem to offer. Still, I'd go for the Omni based on the rate info you provided. It's one of Chicago's best locations and is a great hotel.

THanks for the advice Dan. Can I ask, is it because of the Omni's location you would chose it over the Amalfi or do you think it's a nicer hotel??

Thanks again.
