chicago hotel 5/30-6/1
Hi! My husband and I are FINALLY escaping the kids for a week-end in Chicago, where we've never been, and I can't find a hotel room! Apparently there is a convention in town that week-end (5/30-6/1). Great. Any one know of a B&B, or some fabulous out of the way hotel that might be free? I'm starting to panic....
Thanks

amy, I ran into the same problem trying to book a trip for next weekend. I ended up taking a condo off vrbo. The condo is at 30 East Huron. There are several listed there. I will post a review when I return.

Thank you. The hotel rates were very elevated because the convention (restaurant owners) is huge. We are getting our condo for $300 per night (2 bedroom, 1 bath). It is worth checking as short term (less than a week) rentals are permitted.

71108 V.R.B.O. is the condo rental we had, Amy. It was on the 32nd floor with a view of the lake (alright, not a big view of the lake but we could see it!). The location is superb, on E. Huron two blocks off Michigan. Very accessible to shops, restaurants, museums, etc. The king bedroom was quite large with a comfortable bed, city view from the room and a flat screen tv. The second bedroom with the twin beds was small but adequate. There was a neat little kitchen, a full bath, a living room with a dining area. On the whole very large and quite nice for around $300 a night. The furniture is spare and a little worn, it isn't luxury, but it is fine. I hope it works for you. I will certainly book there on future trips. Enjoy your visit. It is a great city.

Amy,
If you haven't already, try looking into some of the hotels in Lincoln Park and Lakeview like the Willow, Days Inn-Lincoln Park, City Suites, Best Western Hawthorne, Belden Stratford. All are near the El (red and brown lines), and you'd be in one of the best neighborhoods in the city, within walking distance or a short train or bus ride to Wrigley Field, Lincoln Park and the zoo, the Chicago History Museum. There are tons of great restaurants, and the Loop and Mag Mile are easy train rides.
