Chicago: Holiday Inn City Centre or Doubletree?

Hi - we're planning a family getaway to Chicago. Anyone stayed at either of these hotels, and what are your recommendations? Or other ideas? Thanks.

we stayed at the HI back in November...very nice, indoor pool was closed but they said we could go to their Grand Central location to swim if desired.

Good breakfest buffet, great location

easy to get in and out of...I'd stay there again

I've stayed at both and would give a slight edge to the Doubletree. It's an all-suite hotel, which gives you more room. The pool at the Doubletree is very attractive. The Doubletree is also a bit smaller and the service is a touch better. Nothing really wrong with the Holiday Inn service, just that it's so big, things can get a little hectic (especially if there's a big conference in town).

Hi Mona,
We have stayed at the Doubletree - very nice and a good location. We have also stayed at the Embassy Suites Lakefront (by Navy Pier) twice. Very very nice and another great location.
Have fun!

While I don't know of these two hotels specifically, I will weigh in. In my frequent business travel, I typically choose Doubletree over HI when faced with two places that I don't know much about. I've found that Doubletree has done a better job than HI of keeping their hotels up.
