Chicago Air Show

My husband and I are going to be in town staying in Evanston the weekend of the Chicago Airshow. I would like some suggestions as to where we could go to see it without being at North Beach if that is possible. We will have a car. I was trying to avoid some of the crowds as I have difficulty walking and getting bumped by people sometimes causes me to fall. Thanks, Nancy

Thanks so much for the informaton. I'll try the cruise ship option. If it's not too expensive that sounds good, but our friends are in seminary and I'm not sure they can afford a lot.

Do you know how far north we can see the airshow?

Nancy

Two years ago we just happened to be at Navy Pier during the air show and had a great view. The blue angels flew right over top of us several times. Once even experienced a sonic boom as plane went supersonic right over the pier. It was a very nice surprise.

Hello,

I'd like to stay as far north as possible because we are staying in Evanston. I don't do very well in big crowds and was trying to avoid being pushed around. What neighborhoods to the north do you think might work. Thanks so much for your help. Nancy

I would try exiting Lake Shore Drive at Montrose (4400 North) and heading east into the park area. There is a fair amount of parking close to the lakefront there, and it shouldn't fill up quite as early as the Fullerton and North Avenue areas. You'll be able to see the air show, but not much of the water show.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I have been out of commission for the past week, but still am hoping that I can make it to the air show. My husband and I are primarily interested in the air show. We are staying in Evantson and don't want to have to go into the city to see things. I am truly grateful for your suggestions. Thank you. Nancy
