Chgo Loop to United Ctr - transportation help?
Hi----found a couple past responses concerning this question, altho wondering if there's any new advice out there. We'd like to stay in a loop area hotel, and take a ca?) or get a limo (?) to the United Center. Anybody have any suggestions? Someone mentioned that getting a cab outside the U.Ctr after a huge event is pretty impossible. Would also like to drive our own car to a northwest suburb train station, park it overnight, and then take the train into the loop. Looking for any and all help on this. Thanks much!

I would recommend parking your car at the Cumberland Blue line Stop. This stop has a large parking garage just off the Kennedy expressway, which many pilots and flight attendants use for overnight parking. Many Metra stations may allow overnight parking but few cars will be parked overnight making it a safety concerns.
As for the United Center I would recommend buying a CTA visitor pass for the number of days you will be in Chicago, Cumberland has a vending machine for them, and just taking bus # 19, stadium express to and from the united center.

Thx for the Cumberland info, bri19sp.
If my lodging is in the loop/mag mile area, where do I get the bus to the United Ctr? You mentioned #19, altho I read someplace that 19 only ran for sports events. Other events were to take bus #20 (at least that's the way I understood it). Either way, where do I even find that bus? Also, is this bus difficult to find after an event lets out, and how long of a wait can I expect? Thanks again.

It's not a bad cab ride there, but it might be hard getting one back depending on the vent you're attending. The busses are all lined up on the north side of the stadium after the event and very easy to find.

Bus #19 runs for most major events not just sports, call 1-888-YOUR-CTA to find out if it will run for your event. Bus #19 runs south on Michigan Avenue from Chicago St. to Madison. Then West on Madison through the loop to the United Center. This would be a much better option then bus #20 because 19 runs express once it leaves the loop. Also, buses will be waiting after the event at gate 3.

swalter -- I want to thank you for recommending the Cafe Iberico and help with travel from O'Hare. I met fabulous people at Iberico, shared food and traded museum passes. Great food and fun. The Lion King was FABULOUS!

swalter -- You're correct, the weather was the best! Yes, i did get the goat cheese (YUM)...and calamari, and mushrooms, and clams, and spicy potatoes and some other things with the friends i met. It was my birthday I also made it to see T-Rex Sue, (cool)and the rest of the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, John Hancock and of course, Oprah. Last, but not least, picked up a doll for my six year old at American Girl Place. Man! Is that place overwhelming or what!?!?! I will definitely be back with the family

We got on the bus about an hour before the show. We were so glad we took the bus-parking and driving in the area was crazy. The bus was full of fans going to the same show so it was alot of fun. There were about 25 buses parked outside the United after the show to take us back to town. Worked out great-I'd definitely do it that way again.
