Cherry Blossoms - Peak Time To Go

Which weekend would be better to catch the peak of the Cherry Blossoms, March 28-30 or April 4-6

Thanks.

Or, the weekend after that. The point is that it is only a roll of the dice to come up with a peak time. If there is no heavy rain, the peak can last a week or even a bit more. Choosing the right weekend is a matter of luck. Our own cherry tree is usually at peak for nearly 2 weeks and doesn't even begin to bloom until the trees in DC, only 25 miles south are done.

Thanks for the info, the National Cherry Blossom website says that April 4th is the average peak.

Guess I'll go with that and plan on the weekend of April 4th.

April 4th is as good a date as any since the trees are beautiful both before and after peak. That is, if you miss the absolute peak, it will still be great so I wouldn't worry about it. Now is a good time to lock in a hotel.

I have not stayed there since I live nearby, but it has a good reputation and is well located.

Great gourmet fries at the restaurant in the Sofitel- Ici.

I stayed at the Sofitel in Philly and loved it- especially the french bath amenities and continental breakfast.

I have not stayed at the Sofitel, but have seen the rooms and they are very nice. It's very close to a metro stop and right near the White House.
