cheesburgers on 811 Front St., Lahaina, Hawaii

This is an updated request from the first
request about a place called Cheeseburgers
located on the island of Mauii, in Lahaina,
Hawaii. It has been a few years since we
were there but it had good food, live music
and good service. I am aware that the only
thing constant in life is change so I was
just wondering if this place was still in
existence so I am wanting to hear from
anyone who has been there recently to help
me shed some light on this.

I don't know if you've seen your other replies, but the name of the restaurant is Cheeseburger in Paradise, not cheeseburgers.

Here are the reviews from tripadvisor, with reviews as recent as last month:
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restauran...ui_Hawaii.html

Your second post yesterday got a reply with phone number, email address and website (which doesn't appear to work):
http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...1&tid=34720497

It is also covered in the fodors miniguide, including phone number:
http://www.fodors.com/miniguides/mgr...erty_id=297312

So, should be easy enough to determine that they exist. If there's anything else you need, maybe a more specific question (as a reply to this thread would be fine) would help.

As of last week the place is still alive and well on Front Street. They even have locations in the states. I know of one in suburban Chicago and I know there are a ton more.

Seems to be some confusion...the Cheesburger In Paradise chain is owned by Outback Steakhouse in cahoots with Jimmy Buffet and here is the link to the official site:

Note that this chain has nothing in Hawaii.

Now there is a joint called Cheeseburgers located in Hawaii that does not seem to be part of the Buffet/Outback chain, here is some information:

Seems like the lawsuits would have been flying by now.

Perhaps the lawsuits have already flown, because the used to be a website for the Hawaii/mainland Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurants (Waikiki, Lahaina, Wailea, and one in the southwest which I can't remember...) and the website no longer exists.
www.cheeseburgermaui.com/ doesn't work, either.

OK....I think I get this. The one you want is just called Cheeseburger (Insert city name here) There is a Cheeseburger Lahaina. Key West, Waikiki, Las Vegas etc....here is a website that has their advertisement...

http://keywestmenu.com/pdfs/CheeseBurger.pdf

the official website is:

http://www.cheeseburgerland.com

(But it is under construction)

This is the chain that was started by two women when they were craving good cheeseburgers in Hawaii.

The "Cheeseburger in Paradise" chain is owned by Outback and Jimmy Buffet and has many more restaurants than the Cheeseburger chain.

Thanks milemarker0 - that's the place(s). Though I noticed that they're no longer using the "in Paradise" in their name.

While investigating this, I found out that the lawsuit between Jimmy Buffet and the owners (Edna Bayliff and Laren Gartner) had been settled around 2001, and that the stipulation was that the women could only use the name "Cheeseburger in Paradise" on the Lahaina and the Waikiki Restaurants.

I imagine that since they are now opening more restaurants of their own, it's better to have a common name on all of them, rather than promoting someone else's chain...

Jimmy Buffet sued to two women who opened Cheeseburger in Paradise in Maui in 1997. The law suit took four years to settle. He allowed them to keep the name on the Lahaina and Waikiki locations and then teamed up with Outback Steak House and opened several more that have no connection with the first two in question.
