Columbus and the state of Ohio placed their bet on Skybus and lost. Most airlines cut their flights to CMH and have not added much capacity there after Skybus was gone.

Our daughter flies between Columbus and NY fairly often. $300+ range is pretty standard these days. She prefers CO's nonstops into EWR then train/cab into city. She's also gone DL but that usually involves 1 stop and can be time consuming. Agree that SW isn't good option since trip from Islip to the city is/can be very long not including the transfer time in DC.

With their schedule and time constraints I think nonstop is better option if they can budget it.

They are going to be staying with a friend who lives in Brooklyn. Which airport is the best for them to fly into?

Air fares look to have dropped to $ 284.00.

LaGuardia would be more convenient than Newark for getting to Brooklyn.

You could fly into Islip & take the train in.

The trip from Islip would take close to 2 hours.

But if the drive is only 8-9 hours as one person said above, and as others have mentioned...
that's likely not longer than it would take to schlepp to the airport, check in early, wait for flight, flight time, deplane, get into city from airport.

They have booked a flights on Delta down to $ 231.00 each which is not a bad price. Leaving Dec 2nd back Dec 5th. J62 was correct when he said the price would come down.
