cheap vegas?

Hi...

I am planning on going to Vegas in October...I have never been and need some basic advise...what is the best place to stay as far as price and comfort(I won't be spending that much time at hotel so I don't need anything too fancy)...also, are packages better or is it best to book flight and hotel seperately

thanks in advance...

I went to LV last July (first time). It's so much fun!!!! I got all the information I needed from the best Las Vegas site on the web. You'll be able to find out everything you need or want to know. The address is: www.lvol.com (lvol stands for Las Vegas on line). Also, check out the disscussion boards.

Have a great time!!!

This is a tough thing to answer because of the vast array of accomodations available including the everchanging specials. If you asked 100 people, you get 120 opinions.

Take Cheryl's advice and go to the Las Vegas web site. I am a regular participant. There are also several other web sites on Las Vegas.

In general the package deals are much better than booking flight and hotel separately. However this is not alawys true. There are so many deals available in Las Vegas that it is almost impossible to keep up with them. Spending some time of the discussion boards at "lvol" will give you some very valuable information. Don't be afraid to ask any question. The folks on that forum are pretty nice.

You can stay at really NICE places in central locations for little money. We stayed at the Monte Carlo for $69 a night for two. It's fantastic!! You are within walking distance of all the new hotels. The Monte Carlo has a great brewery, pool area, fast food court for the budget, buffets, and fancy restaurants. It's the best!!

When do you plan to go? Rooms, airfare, and package deals are way cheaper if you stay Sunday - Thursday nights.

There is no cheaper vacation than Vega$ - if you don't gamble too much. That's why I go! Food is cheap or free (look for fun books), booze is cheap or free (if you're gambling), entertainment is on the street and free.

You can even get free show tix if you go on a two-hour tour of time-share condos.

My favorite place to stay is the Palace Station. Since it's off the Strip, it's cheap, compared to something on the Strip, like the Luxor or Excalibur. There's a free shuttle that will take you to the Strip. Free shuttles abound to take you to other off-strip casinos, like Hard Rock Cafe or Rio, so you don't need to rent a car.

If you are flying from a city through which Southwest flies, check out their packages - I've found them to be the cheapest.

Have a great time.

We stayed at Palace Station when we went -- strongly urge you to stay "on strip" -- family member did Excalibur (sp?) on AAA auto club pkg last Oct very inexpensive and they liked it. The Ex had been freshly redone & I hear the Palace Station has had some problems recently.

I just got back from Las Vegas and me and my boyfriend stayed at the Royal Hotel and Casino.
This hotel is quite simple with no fancy casinos or restaurants. Itīs just off the strip near Riviera and Circus Circus. For 4 nights we payed only
109 dollars including taxes.
Itīs a good hotel with nice rooms and service. The place to stay when you arenīt spending much time at the hotel.

Just returned last night! 6/26. Stayed at the Flamingo Hilton Sun-Fri morn for $59.00/night (2 adults/3kids!)Great pool area. Large room! Boulder Station best breakfast deal and selection! Texas Station great dinner buffet. Fiesta good too. It seemed that best buffet value and quality was found off the strip. Found Lodestones Las Vegas Buffet Breakdown on web site, VERY accurate! I'll post again when I find the exact web address. www.lasvegas.com is good too.
