Cheap Motels Reno/Sparks???

Hiya again! If we must stick to our low-price budgets for winter holiday, how would y'all compare the following:

Econo Lodge, 666 Wells Av., Reno and

Super 8, 666 E. Gregg , Sparks.

Sands Regency Resort, Reno

Quality, cleanliness, SAFETY, convenience to Highway access, etc.

Or, any suggestions to avoid disaster?

Gracias Fodorites!

I live in Reno so sorry, I have never stayed at any of these. I have a friend that works at the Sands in their maintenance department and the hotel re-decorated a lot of rooms last year so it should be clean. It's not a bad location but about three blocks from the main part of downtown..Virginia street. They are doing a lot to clean up downtown, the areas is safe but you may still see a few street people around, although the weather is turning cold so you don't see as many as you do in the summer. The thing is, the Sands has a casino and restaurants right on the property so for breakfast and such, that's makes it easy. At the other places you have to leave the property to get food. All are fairly convenient to either 80 or 395. If it were me, I'd stay at the Sands.

You haven't indicated how cheap you willing to go with. I don't get to Reno much often, but I was in Reno early this year to watch a concert upon being invited a high-roller friend.

Although my room was comped free through my friend, I inquired about regular booking prices at the desk at Silver Legacy and they said, at times, ir runs anywhere from $49 and above per night. The hotel is, I would assume, much much nicer and better than those you enumerated.

I forgot to suggest that you check the downtown hotels for specials they might be running as mentioned in the last post. The Atlantis frequently has special rates. Atlantis is out of the downtown core, has lots of parking and is easy to get to from the freeway.
