Reno, Atlantis or Peppermill Casino

Going to reno next week and wondering if anyone has stayed at one of these casino hotels. Don't want to stay downtown.

I have stayed at both. They both have cheap and better rooms. The cheap rooms you want to stay away from because I hear they are pretty bad. The tower rooms in the Atlantis are nice but, plain Jane. I understand their more expensive rooms are real nice. I stayed in a spa suite at the Peppermill last year because I got a pretty good rate around 100.00 . It was nice but, had these lights that go all around it kind of cheesy but, it was spacious. I would probably choose the Atlantis over the two just because I like to gamble and I always win money over there. I use my card while I gamble and get money knocked off the price of my hotel , room service, etc. Everytime I go to the Peppermill , I can't win a plug nickel so, I end up not playing there and I don't earn points to knock off the price of the hotel room. Hope this helps your decision between the two.

Stayed at the Peppermill the week of Sept 1. This was a first trip to there. I thought the hotel was very nice. The rooms were pretty in a art deco kinda of way if you like that sorta thing. But it was spacious. The web site shows the rooms as low as $49 so check out the website (www.peppermillreno.com) There's two huge parking lots and it's easy to get in and out of. It took less than 10 minutes to drive to downtown Reno but there's a bus stop in front of the hotel. The pool area was nice (pool is heated). There's also a nice lake less than a ten minute walk away if you want to do some walking or jogging. While we really liked the hotel, the casino was probably the ugliest I've ever seen. However, we gambled there enough to pay for the room and most meals. Thought the comps were very easy - atleast by Vegas standards.
Went to the Atlantis casino which I thought was very pretty. Based on the casino I'd think the rooms were nice. The hotel is just down the street from the Peppermill - but further from downtown. If we went again I'd stay at the Peppermill - really enjoyed walking around the lake in the mornings and evenings. Went when it was still dark around 6am and saw atleast 20 other people walking, jogging, or walking their dogs.

I would agree with Trisha about the casino--I have always had much better luck at Atlantis. The rooms at Atlatis are fairly plain but seem larger then a normal room. They often have very cheap rooms. Aparently they have a motorlodge that is to be avoided.

Peppermill has a fantastic seafood buffet on Sunday mornings. Worth checking out!
