Charleston with a baby

My mom and I are thinking about a mom/daughter trip to Charleston in October. Here's the catch, we'd be taking my then 9 month old. Can anyone recommend a hotel under $200 which would be baby friendly. I'm thinking a b and b would be too close for comfort with a baby.

Also, flights from Chicago to Charleston are a bit steeper than we anticipated so we were thinking of flying into Savannah and driving up to Charleston. Does anyone know of a closer airport with better Chicago rates?
Thanks all.

Get a suite at either the Doubletree or at The Andrew Pinckney Inn.

Most B&Bs do not allow children.

Try Spirit Air to Myrtle Beach. Savannah is a tiny little airport. Myrtle Beach has the busiest airport in the state and if there are any deals, you'll find them there.

One caveat, the sidewalks in Charleston are horribly uneven because they are 300 years old and because they are all flagstone, cobblestone, or brick so make sure your stroller is sturdy.

and it's unlikely to find a (nice) B&B for less than 200....

Apparently Spirit Air doesn't fly from Chicago to Myrtle Beach. Who knew it would be so difficult to get from Chicago to Charleston for a decent price! Thanks for the hotel suggestions Go Travel.

I just stayed at the Andrew Pinckney and while it was great--it is a bit noisy--not sure I would appreciate a baby in the room next door. The BW King Charles Inn might be a better pick. When I stayed there last year, there were lots of families there. Ditto on the sidewalks. The aquarium is very nice and can be reached either by the trolley or flat sidewalks. The King Charles Inn is also close to Marion Square (big grassy areas and farmer's market on Saturdays).

oops--forgot to add you could fly into ATL and drive--if you were planning on renting a car. If not--the drive from Savannah is about 3-4 hours. Ditto for Myrtle Beach.

You do NOT want to fly to Atlanta. That is an additional six hour grueling drive to Charleston.

How far are you from Detroit? Spirit flies direct from Detroit to Myrtle Beach.

Did you try www.Kayak.com and www.ITASoftware.com? ITA Software has an option to pick airports up to 300 miles from your point of origination and final destination.
