Hello...We are considering marrying in Charleston, SC and are looking for an intimate place for a wedding reception for appx. 30 people. We would like it either to be in the downtown area or near the water, and fairly reasonable. If anyone knows of a place to fit the bill, I would appreciate it!!

Weddings are a huge business in Charleston. You can find something small and near the water but it won't be very reasonable. My suggestion would be to look at some of the hotels in the area. Did you want a water view during the wedding or did you want to be close for pictures and so forth?

Try the Courtyard by Marriott Downtown Riverview. It's not your typical Courtyard and it has lovely water views.

Don't do it in the summer - my sister got married in that area in late June years ago and her dress, hair as well as those of everyone else in attendance became a river of sweat within a short time because of the heat and humidity at that time of year.
