Charleston SC - Hotel with 2 small children

Going to a family reunion in Clinton from Florida in September- thought we might spend Friday night in Charleston to break up the trip for my two small grandsons. (3 & 6). My daughter and I have never been to Charleston and while this is not the ideal way to see it - I thought we might get a glimpse! Get a hotel - walk to dinner and see a little bit of the town. Don't want to spend more than $150 for room this night. Any suggestions for hotel and restaurant?

Look on the hotel sites--you might have to go to Mt. Pleasant and drive to dinner.
Hampton Inn is nice and at the Vistitor's center so you could take the trolley to the historic district.

The Days Inn on Meeting Street (Historic District) is in your price range. Its not fancy, but it is a great location for walking.

Have you considered AirBNB? Great 2 BR apts downtown for $130 before taxes & fees.

You could also look on hotels.com and booking.com for specials that might even include these hotels.

I've never used airbnb before - that's a great idea. I'll try them and hotels and booking.com and see what I get. Thanks for your help.
