Charleston Hotels

Will be visiting Charleston SC Memorial Day weekend (yes, we have to go then), and trying to find a hotel outside of the Historic area because the rates for that weekend are very expensive. Any nice hotel suggestions outside of historic Charleston , close enough for easy drive in? Will we have problems parking our car on a holiday weekend? Thanks!

You probably will not find anything at all because not only is it a holiday weekend but it falls right smack in the middle of Spoleto which is one of the largest arts festivals in the US.

Many cities bring orchestras, ballet companies, dance companies, writers, musicians, jazz bands, painters, artists, actors, etc and the cheap rooms go first.

Have you tried the Hampton Inns? Did you find any availability?

The Andrew Pinckeny Inn is the most reasonably priced hotel downtown.

Try these links:

What about North Charleston?

Parking will be a beast because the Charleston will be so busy. If you can, find a hotel with a shuttle. The city may even be running shuttles. Check the Spoleto site.

Try the Courtyard Downtown Riverview (a very nice hotel) or the Springhill Suites. Both are right on the river and are nice. Both places are literally just minutes to the Historic District.

Have you considered Mt Pleasant? It's just across the bridge with several chain hotels.

There's a Holiday Inn right on the other side of the new bridge in Mt. Pleasant that is always reasonable. We had our high school reunion there because the downtown hotels were too expensive in the summer.
