Casual dining in New Orleans, FQ?

Looking for some fun, casual dining suggestions for NO. Jacques-Imo's Cafe was a thought. Need a big menu. Someplace fun, not stuffy, good food, creole, seafood, and other selections (pasta) and not expensive. In the FQ...

Any recommendations?

I think Marisol fits all your requirements: not stuffy, laid back, casual, varied menu and most of all great food.

Galatoire's is one of the best FQ restaurants ever......also Bayona and Peristyle are great. Restaurant August is good but it's just across Canal St.

Galatoire's is closed on Mondays, the only night that we will be there. Bayona is much fancier than we want.

We are looking for a restaurant that is fun, moderate, creole and other choices, and in the French Quarter.

We have two teen girls with us so need a variety and don't want to spend a fortune. Thanks.

Cajun Cabin (on Bourbon with live music/dance lessons), Cafe Pontalba (Creole & next to St Louis Cathedral), & Maximo's (Italian & on Decatur across from the French Market).

I though Emeril's restaurant LOLA was relatively casual, with a fun, trendy atmosphere (although expensive) ... very good food.

The Emeril restauarant you are thinking of is NOLA. Trendy but not the best of Emeril's restaurants & not cheap. What about Irene's ?

Emerils or Nola? Would you call these casual? Is it worth it for the ambiance, or the food, or for the New Orleans experience or all of the above???

I have three suggestions: Red Fish Grill right on Bourbon Street near Canal, Mr. B's Bistro, and Old N'Awlins Cookery, also in FQ but I can't remember the streets. Good luck.

Right now, Cafe Pontalba looks very good. It is what I was looking for. Reasonable, good selection for the teens, and great creole offerings on the menu...Not sure about the atmosphere.

I did look up the menu for Nola and there are no prices. It looks a little more gourmet than what we want. Thanks for your help.

I'll second Wayne's recommendation of Red Fish Grill on Bourbon Street. It's part of the Brennan's family of restaurants and it's very casual. You can check out the menu at redfishgrill.com. Also, if you want to cut costs you can try going for lunch instead of dinner (which would be true for any other place as well).

We loved Acme. Don't know if they had pasta, but man, they had great gumbo and red beans and rice and it was casual.
