Cascade Lodge in Yellowstone

I read about 2 lodges on trip advisor, but I can't find much more info on them. They are not on the Yellowstone NP lodging website, either. Anyone know more about this? Thanks!

It looks like Cascade Lodge is at Canyon Village. http://www.nps.gov/yell/pphtml/lodging.html

Thanks, Utahtea. Trip advisor posts refer to reserving a specific lodge at Canyon Village, yet there's no option or any reference to particular lodging in Canyon Village at the Yellowstone reservations site. I guess it'll take a phone call for more information and that reservation.

Also, what's the "tea" stand for? I was quite surprised to learn on another thread that you don't actually live in Utah. You are certainly an expert! ;-)

Thanks for the help!

Cascade and Dunraven Lodges are classified as the "high-range" rooms on the lodging website. If those rooms don't show for the dates you are considering, it is because they are already booked. If you keep checking the website and calling reservations, you will probably luck out. I was very happy with my stay at Cascade. The room was a fairly good size, comfortable and very quiet. The cabins at Canyon look downright scary, so avoid those if you can.

Thanks, wtm003! High end rooms were available, but it did not specify a particular lodge. Is one any better than the other? Should I phone to request a particular lodge?

Also, I have read that a lot of Fodorites like one wing of Old Faithful Inn over another, etc. Does that also require a phone call?

Thanks, all your help is appreciated.

Cascade Lodge is located in Canyon Village, as is its twin, Dunraven Lodge. We stayed their this past summer. When we made the reservations we were told when we arrived we would be assigned our rooms then. We put in a "request" for the Dunraven Lodge as it has an elevator. These Lodges are in a very nice private location backing up to the woods. We had 3 rooms in Dunraven and absolutley LOVED being there for 2nights and wished we had stayed longer. The rooms were super clean, large & very quiet. We were greeted by a herd of bison in the twilight hours in and about the village for most of the night. In the morning some of the herd had remained behind in our parking lot. Also about were 2 of the "3 Brothers"as some park employees refered to them, some very huge 14pt bull elk shedding velvet. This was simply a great spot!

I better get that request in NOW, disneynan. After reading your post, I am sure we are ALL going to try to get a room there! ;-) No wonder it's been so difficult to find information about these lodges . . .it's a "best kept secret!"

Thanks a lot for the info!

I believe I stayed in the west wing at OFI. Our room was a frontside room which faced the geyser basin - unfortunately their was a tree in front of our window so we had absolutely no view. The backside rooms face the parking lot. I don't know if one wing is better than the other, but I would be happy in either wing. Some of the rooms in the older part of the building (not the wings) are next to the common areas. There are people right outside your door playing board games, chatting, reading, etc. The wings were quiet during our stay, which was over the 4th of July.
