YNP lodging- Old Faithful and/or canyon
We have 2 nights in Yellowstone and I'm wondering if it's best to stay in the same place or move around on each night? We have a reservation at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge for 2 nights, but find we need to push our schedule one day over and can only keep one of those days (Snow Lodge isn't available for the second night we'll be there. We can move after the first night to the Old Faithful Lodge cabins (or spend both nights there), or over to the Canyon Cabins. I'm particularly concerned about parking, since we're traveling with my mother who has some difficulty walking. Seems like driving time would be better if we stayed in 2 separate places, but that might be offset with having to two check-ins. Any insights would be most appreciated. Also, can anyone explain the difference between "Pioneer", "Frontier" and "Western"?

My family stayed at Canyon Lodge last year; if we had to do it again, we would have stayed Old Faithful. OTOH, Canyon was centrally located which was what we wanted for our first trip to Yellowstone.
I once had a book which explained the different cabins but the only thing I can remember off the top of my head is that the Western Cabins are the largest. IIRC, all if not most have two double beds. The Western Cabins are also the most expensive. During all our stays in the different cabins at various National Parks, my family has always gone for the Western Cabins.
Almost forget: Our parking at Canyon Lodge was right outside our door; a very easy walk to/from the car for your mother.

Considering the cabin classifications at Yellowstone as a basis, I personally would not stay in a Pioneer Cabin unless my alternative was to sleep in my car or on the ground with no tent.
The Frontier Cabins are a little better, but marginal.
The Western Cabins, if you can get one, are your best bet.
If you can only get a Pioneer Cabin, I suggest you look outside the park.
Usually you can park near the door in the cabin areas.
