Casa Ybel Sanibel

We are due to spend a week at this resort in September. Can anyone tell me anything about the resort, the island, the area?? What to do/what not to miss etc etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Many thanks

mildew, what you need to do first is type in "sanibel" in the text search. You'll come up with so many posts dealing with Sanibel that it take you a good hour to plow through it all!!! However, after reading, you'll have such a good idea of what Sanibel is about that you'll be counting the hours until you go.

You will like Casa Ybel a lot. It's beautifully landscaped and in a great location. When we go to Saniblel we always bring our bicycles with us. There are paths all over, and unlike many places, the cars will stop for you so you can cross the road safely. There's a nice wildlife sanctuary called Ding Darling that you might want to spend some time at. We spent a nice afternoon visiting the historic outdoor village museum that recreates the early days of Sanibel. (It is on the same idea as Williamsburg, to give you the gist of what it's about.) Not many people seem to know about this so it's never crowded.

Mostly, though, what you go to Sanibel for is to relax, swim, shell on the beach, and just forget the rest of the world exists!! Don't go with an agenda of "must sees and must do's." Unwind and enjoy.

Thanks dln - I had already studied the listing under Sanibel but there wasn't so much about Casa Ybel. We are intending to unwind and not do very much at all but we have our children and their partners with us and they may need a little more ACTION! Thanks again

Our family was considering staying there, but were unable to trade our timeshare due to availability. I contacted them directly and they sent me some info, so you might try that route. Here is a link too. http://www.hiltongrandvacations.com/...s/casaybel.htm They also have a newsletter you can sign up for. Good luck and have a wonderful time!!

Mildew,
Sanibel is a casual, slow-paced, relaxing place to visit. There are miles of bike paths, you can visit the Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge, there's a Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum that's interesting (of course shelling on the beaches is one of the top attractions!), the Old Schoolhouse Theater puts on plays that are entertaining, the sunsets are wonderful, there are many great places to shop & good restaurants. If you want to go off the island you can visit the Edison-Ford Winter Estates in Ft. Myers. I'm sure your family can find something to keep them busy! The Chamber of Commerce has a web site you may want to check out: www.sanibel-captiva.org. Here's some advice, be sure to pack your bug repellent, those no-seeums or whatever they're called are unrelenting at dusk. Have fun!
