Carmel in March?

I'm thinking of spending a weekend in Carmel at the end of March. The average high appears to be about 62 during that time period. Since we're from MN, that will seem rather warm to us, but I'm wondering if anyone knows how the weather really is during that time period? We don't need to be sun bathing, but I would like it to be dry and comfortable. Sunshine would be awesome!

We were there in Feb. 2006. It was unusually warm for two of the four days...low 80s. There other days were mid 60s but there was a breeze.

I dressed in layers...capris, short or 3/4 sleeves and a light jacket or sweater. If you are going to Pebble, it will be a little cooler on the water.

Enjoy!

That sounds about right, although rain is a distinct posibility that time of year. The rainy season is from about mid-November to the end of April and so storms should be expected any time during those months. Most years though, we don't get storm after storm off the Pacific. Usually there are pretty nice breaks between storms and even when a storm is coming through, it rarely rains all day.

We were in Carmel the second week of April last year and we did have rain. We still enjoyed ourselves, got lots of good shopping in at the Plaza and went wine tasting at Chateau Julien and Ventana. We finished our day off with a nice dinner at Tarpey's Roadhouse in Monterey. ***kim***

In 2006, it was messy all of March to a lot of April. Feb. was nice as I recall. It varies every year, so be prepared for sun, fog and/or rain.

Our weather is unpredictable in the winter--so no one can guarantee it will be sunny or that it will.
But I can guarantee it will be better than Minne in March. I was just in Carmel this past weekend with friends from upstate NY. There were some scattered showers and ocasional rain, so I felt bad for my friends. They didn't care, it was in the single digits where they live so the high 50's felt barmy to them, especially when the showers ended and it was sunny. Just being able to see flowers blooming in January was also a thrill.

Good point SAB. Our weather is nice to most, even when it's bad to us, LOL.

I agree. March is changeable. But the beach is great for a walk in just about any weather, as long as you have a wind breaker or (if need be) a light rain coat.
That Carmel beach is quite beautiful. I think you should go for it.
