Oh boy. I'm not sure you should wait for all the recommendations. (In that regard, a budget would be helpful to know.) Book something ASAP.

We like the Cypress Inn.

Budget? I'm pretty open, depending on recommendations. Is $100 to $225 a reasonable range?

My favorite -- a fireplace room at The Normandy Inn, within your upper budget. Or a regular room at less money.

The Carmel Country Inn is lovely, very popular with Europeans. Rooms and suites are private, attractive, and pleasant in every way.

It is about two blocks from the beginning of the downtown area - an easy walk home, slightly uphill on the way.

If you want to try something really different try Clint Eastwoods Mission Ranch. It is an interesting and serene place to stay. It is a ranch. My son and his girlfriend were there and even ran into Clint. The restaurant is also quite good. I beleive the prices are reasonable.

For upscale lodging, check out either the Tickle Pink Inn or the Highland's Inn, located in the Carmel Highlands area.

We enjoyed a very nice stay at La Playa in May, located right in the heart of Carmel. Walking distance to the beach and shops. Very nice property with beautiful grounds and a nice restaurant, the Terrace Grill. ***kim***

La Playa is very attractive - very small rooms, though.

For real California style, try Bernardus Lodge, in Carmel Valley. Casual elegance defined! Fabulous food and relaxed atmosphere - and always sunny!

For the best Sunday brunch try the Lodge at Pebble Beach - the tables look out over the golf course at the ocean, and the food is glorious.

Agree about Bernardus, we dined at Wickets and just fell in love with this property. Roy's in Pebble Beach is also very nice. Go at sunset and enjoy the bagpiper there. ***kim***
