Car service from JFK to lower Manhattan

Can anyone recommend a car service from JFK into lower Manhattan? We are arriving next Wednesday and the last time we used the hotel to find a car service, I had to give a few pints of blood to the tune of about $300.00! Not a great way to start a trip!

Thanks!

Carmel and Dial 7 are the two car services most recommended on this forum - you'll pay a lot less than $300.

We've been satisfied with both Carmel & Dial 7--there are sometimes coupons on their websites.

A taxi is a set fare of $52.50 plus tip and tolls, for a total of ~$65-$70.

I also have used Dial7 and felt the service was great.

Thanks for the info. A friend of mine used to live on Roosevelt Island & she lined up the car service for me that she used. I had a really, really early flight & he came still smelling of alcohol with a car that had no shocks! I didn't smell the alcohol until we had left. Scary ride, just didn't want anything like that to happen again!

Dial 7 and Carmel are both very large reliable companies with numerous cars. As long as you don;t have too many people/too much luggage the cost for a full-size sedan should be similar to that for a cab. Do go to the web site to get a coupon and do not order "meet and greet" - which is considerably more expensive.

What you do is reserve in advance and then call when your plane lands - they will have a car there when you get to the curb (barring a blizzard or other natural disaster).

Take a taxi. I believe that it is a fixed rate, unlike a ride to Brooklyn with which I am familiar.
