Transportation from Newark to Midtown
There will be four of us traveling, 2 adults and 2 teenagers with a fair amount of luggage and we will arrive late morning on a Saturday. We have pretty much ruled out the Air train. Does anyone have information \ recommendations of car services? We think a taxi or limo may be our best option, cost and convenience wise, because we need to multiply the cost of any shuttle price times 4 travelers and the shuttle won't get us directly to our hotel. We have no idea how much a town car or limo costs in NY? Thank you in advance for any help and advice.

Yes a cab or service car into the city is the best way. We often use Televiv Car SErvice and the phone number is (212) 505-0555. and there are a couple other numbers, not sure of the names of the car companies but remember the numbers (212)666-6666 and (212)777-7777.
Hope this helps, have a great time while you are here.

http://www.panynj.gov/aviation/egtsfram.htm gives options. As far as I remember, there was no set cab fare from Newark to Manhattan, but that may have changed. It is certainly more than $35 (that's the set fare from JFK into Manhattan)--more like $50, plus tolls and tip.
The 2 car services mentioned are comparably priced and they will give you a fixed price quote. The companies wantsomesun mentioned are Tel Aviv and Carmel and their prices are about the same, check their websites for discount coupons. Note that with 4 people and "a fair amount of luggage" a regular sedan might be uncomfortable and or not available (the car service will let you know)-- upgrading to a station wagon or minivan will cost a few dollars (maybe $5-10 more)

Tami,
The limo services mentioned (Carmel and Tel Aviv) are the cheapest but also they are not great for arranging pickups from the airport because they will often just wait for you outside rather than hold up a sign to greet you. As Saturday morning is not too busy, just follow the signs for the taxi stand after you pick up your luggage.
As mentioned, the $35 fixed rate is from JFK only. From Newark it is a meter and will cost approx $40-50 plus tip and toll depending on where your hotel is. There will be less trafic on a Saturday which is good.
On your way back to the airport, you could do a limo as they can pick you up right from your hotel at a set time. Your hotel conceirge can arrange it or if they are asking too much, you can call Tel Aviv or Carmel. Or if it's not a busy time, your hotel will hail a taxi for you.
