car rental from orlando international

We will be arriving into Orlando International Airport at 12:03 am on a Friday. We would like to be able to rent a car to drive to our hotel.

Are the rental car companies at the airport open this late?

How much would a taxi cost at this hour? Thanks for your help! Laurie

Make certain your car company is located in the airport. We had a nightmare in Orlando when we rented from a company where we had to wait in line for a bus which drove us out into the country to their lot; this added at least 45 minutes to our trip...and with 3 little kids along that was 45 minutes too long. (If you look on Orbitz it tells you which car companies are located within the terminal).

Yes, they are open that late.

I respectfully disagree with Lena456 regarding the need to only rent from a company located in the airport terminal. Not all of the off-airport rental car agencies are bad. I frequently use Thrifty <http://www.thrifty.com> for my parking but occasionally rent from them. They have frequent shuttles to their property about 1 mile north of the airport. They depart from two, street-level locations on each side of terminals A & B and are so frequent that you almost don't have to even call them from the free courtesy phones right below baggage claim. Of course, reservations are important for any car rental place you choose.

Without knowing where your hotel is, I can't begin to estimate how much a taxi might run. If it is in the Disney/Universal Studios/International Drive areas, that is a considerable distance and will cost accordingly.

List of which companies are on the airport and which are off:

Alamo, Budget, and National are all open 24/7; not sure about the others that are at the airport.

Thank you for your replies.

I used priceline tonight to book the Amerisuites on Calyso Cay Way for $36 per night.

I hope to be able to book a car rental using priceline also, so it is good to know that the major car rental agencies are open at this hour.

We are booking a very budget trip to visit the food and wine festival at Epcot.

Thanks again for the info! Laurie
