Hotwire car rental

Are all Hotwire car rentals with major companies? They seem to have good rates fro full size ccars for the datees we wil lbe traveling. We would like to rent a car at San Francisco International and have a bit tight schedule. Are the rental companies and cars located at the airport or outside , is shuttle needed?

They are all with major companies, and if the company is offsite of the airport there will be shuttles available to you at no cost. More than likely the car rental agency you will get will be onsite at major airports or within a mile or two of an airport if offsite.

I have never heard of them choosing a company with a downtown location through Hotwire or Priceline that wouldn't offer at least a free shuttle from the major airport.

The three companies Hotwire works with are AVIS, BUDGET and HERTZ. So you could just check to see where their offices are near the airport to know whether it will use a shuttle or not to see what your chances are to have to catch the shuttle?

Introduction

San Francisco International Airport houses large modern car rental facilities in a purpose built Car Rental Center that brings together all of the major rental firms in one location.

The center is connected to the airport terminals by an AirTrain service. Blue line shuttle trains run 24 hours a day between the terminals and the car rental center. Collecting a car and dropping one off is easy, and immediate access to Highway 101 makes travel to San Francisco and Silicon Valley very straightforward.

From the SFO website.....
