I wound up using Hot Wire two weeks ago. I went on line about a week before I left and they saved me about $45/week for each week over good corporate rates. $139/week for a full size at OGG and $279/week for a SUV at KOA. We need the SUV to drive to the top of Manua Kea.

The strange thing is the OGG rate was with the same company as my Corp rate reservation. I think that Hot Wire sells excess capacity.

I think I will book something now will the best deal I can find, and then start trying Priceline, we did that for Maui 2 years ago and got an intermediate car, grand am, for $20 a day + fees. It was a good deal at the time, way cheaper than anything else! We aren't flying out til the day after Thanksgiving, so I have some time!

It might not work now, but I used 6T for Alamo and got a good deal on a convertible for our 10 day stay in Kauai earlier this month.Might be worth checking out.

Alamo's code 6T saved us about $250 on a 10 day rental on the BI last November.

Alamo 6T was working about 2 weeks ago and is far and away the best rate I could find on a convertible on Maui.
