car insurance in Illinois

I have recently shifted to Illinois along with my family (due to new assignment) and need to get my car insured at the earliest. Any suggestions? Tips?

Contact an independent insurance agent who can evaluate which company would best meet your needs.

If you are buying a home too, bundle the two together. The Illinois market offers some great deals with bundles

I’m planning to bundle both together in any case to keep it simple. Which is a good company to buy both home and car insurance from?

If you are satisfied with your current insurance company, I suggest you contact them to determine if they operate in Illinois, or if they have a cooperative agreement with another company in that area.

Years ago I moved from California to Nebraska and back 3 years later and kept the same insurance (Farmers) all the while.

If you’re a member of AARP, you can get insurance from The Hartford at special rates. The Hartford is a good company to insure with especially because of their reliable claim handling. I’ve been with them for close to 10 years now for both home and auto insurance (http://aarp.thehartford.com/).

The Hartford is among the good IL auto insurance companies around, even without AARP.

State Farm is headquartered in Bloomington, IL. Excellent customer service and a great value! http://www.statefarm.com
I agree with simon_sage....bundling your auto with renters or homeowners can make a difference on your premiums. Welcome to IL!

Allstate Insurance is a Chicago based company. They recently posted an article on how Safe Illinois drivers can save on their website...http://www.allstatenewsroom.com/chan...ate-drive-wise
