Car in Myrtle Beach SC?
My family & I are planning at trip to Myrtle Beach next summer. I don't want to drive! Are there beachfront hotels within walking distances of resturants & shopping? We'd like a break from driving (rental car). Thanks!

elvis...you definitely need a car for Myrtle Beach...unless, you are going to stay down near the boardwalk and eat fast food and such...There is a restuarant called Pier something or other right at the pier in Myrtle.
But, for good shopping and dining...a car is necessary.

Ordinarily I would agree 100% with iceeu2 and tcapp. The MB area is huge; the attractions spread out over some 30 miles or more of coastline. So I do think that having a car is the BEST way to vacation in MB.
However, if you are dead set against driving, you could stay at a hotel in the heart of MB, such as the Breakers, Camelot, the Palms, etc. (anything near 21st Avenue North). That would put you within walking distance of several decent restaurants (River City Cafe on 21st, Bummz on Ocean Blvd at about 17th, Flying Fish Grill on 26th, Sea Captains House on Ocean Blvd at about 30th).
As for shopping, you can take our little buses, called Lymo, from Ocean Blvd to places like Broadway at the Beach, Coastal Grand Mall, and probably--not totally sure, as Lymo is in a bit of flux right now--Colonial Mall and Barefoot Landing, and perhaps the Tanger Outlets (both the one on 17 just before NMB and the one on HWY 501).
Either way, have a great time!

iceeu2,
It's called Pier 14 restaurant; here's the website:
http://www.pier14.com/
I haven't eaten there, but the prices look pretty good, and I don't see how you could beat the views.
