Captiva Island or Siesta Key
Thinking of a trip to Captiva Island or Siesta Key in July. We would be looking for a condo or house close to the beach. We would prefer an upscale place where you can walk to attractions. Is it kid friendly? Will it be too hot in July?

Hi
Either island will be quite warm in July even with nice breezes off the gulf. There's both beautiful but a lot of Captiva is still being rebuilt from the Hurricane - South Seas Plantation is not scheduled to open until 2006.
It's only my opinion but I'd probably choose almost any other month but July and August.
Yes - they are kid friendly.

Early July is quite pleasant, for Florida summers, no big storms yet, seldom a hurricane, warm water, perfect for the beach. Either island you mention has little in the way of attractions other than the beach itself and perhaps fishing the sound on the other side of the island.
A funky resort on Captiva that is open and will be next summer is Tween Waters. Both islands have many condos in rental programs and both have many restaurants. The condos on Andy Rosse Lane on Captiva would meet your requirements. Google the Key Lime Bistro. The woman that owns it also has rentals.
