Cape May, NJ - which do you suggest?
We're planning a Sept trip to Cape May for 4 days with our 3 year old. Do you recommend we stay at The Chalfonte or Summer Station? We're interested in 'kid friendly' accommodations with some luxury thrown in. We're open to other suggestions as well. Is early Sept a good time to visit Cape May? Your comments are greatly appreciated.

Not familiar with the Summer Station, but the Chalfont is a neat old hotel. No A/C and an Indian summer can make it hot especially in Sept. They do have a kids program, but 3 ight be alittle young. Fun town and take in wildwood for an afternoon for the tacky factor.

I would think September would be a great time to go. The Ocean is usually at it's warmest that time of year. Haven't ever stayed in Cape May, always a house in Ocean City. If you get a chance go up to Ocean City. Much more of a family boardwalk than Wildwood. Many kiddy rides that a 3 year old could handle. Also check out the Cape May Zoo. A nice small free zoo with a nice little playground too.
If you can manage a child-free dinner, my husband and I had a wonderful dinner at 410 Bank St. in Cape May. A BYOB with excellent food.

Sept. is the perfect preschool time. The beach will be filled with lots of buddies. The zoo is a must. I think you may even be able to take a short train ride out to Cold Springs (?). There is also a cute tiny firehouse museum near the outdoor mall.
