capecodshanty, I wasn't implying that South Yarmouth is THE cultural center of the Cape - that is the name of the organization, the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, which you'll see if you look at their web site. Maybe you think that's a bit presumptuous of them to name it that, but it is far more than just an art gallery - they have plays, concerts, classes, lectures, and more.
milemarker0, no offense to you either, but if you read my post carefully, you'll see that I said that the Center opened last year, it's a brand new organization. The folks I talked to in South Yarmouth are very excited about it, and proud of the work they did to bring it fruition (and rightfully so).
musicl1, I'm sorry this information isn't helpful to you, but maybe others who are researching things to do on the Cape will find it of interest. Good luck finding activities you'll enjoy, and I hope the weather will be good so you can get out and enjoy the beautiful beaches and scenery. I don't know if any of the bike rental shops are open in March, but if any are, you might enjoy renting bikes and riding on some of the beautiful bike trails on the Cape (assuming they aren't snowy or icy, but I'd hope they wouldn't be by March - maybe some Cape residents would be able to tell you if that's likely). I just Googled for "bike rentals on Cape Cod", and a large list came up. The shop in Provincetown won't open until April, but a couple of the other web sites I looked at didn't mention seasonal closings - you could call and inquire. Have a great time!

If you are looking for deals, check out www.travelzoo.com. I noticed that right now they have Ocean Edge Resort and Chatham Bars Inn on special.
Neither is a small, romantic "inn" like Moses Nickerson but you may want to check them both out just the same.

seafox is right.
Many places in P-Town will be closed or only open on weekends alone until April 1.
A smattering don't even open until just before Memorial Day.
The further 'down' the cape and closer to Hyannis the more will be open.
As for Newport, with the exception of a few restuarants that close for a short winter hiatis, most things will be open. Prices and tourism reflect that though.
You may be able to find some winter deals which usually stop shortly after St. Patricks day.
The weather for both will most likely be raw/windy and generally not snowy - nothing that a few layers and a good hat can't handle.
