Canyon Ranch - Mass.

The rate I am getting is over $1000/night for 2 people. Any suggestions on how to get a better rate?

Sorry, Jed, but to the best of my experience and knowledge, Canyon Ranch does not discount rates!

If you check in sun-tues, it's a better price. I also got a discount as a retuning guest bringing a new guest. If you go before April 15 (?), it may also be less. Have fun.

I see a rate of $810/day for a 3 night package for 2 (found by searching on sidestep.com). It's on orbitz.com

They have different rates at different times of the year and also some specials such as daughter goes for free if she shares a room with mother during certain months. Of course, this has no relevance for most guests. Why not call them and ask about other special deals?

Jed, my sister and I got the best rate by calling CR directly (beat the web price); BTW, if you mean $500/night for each person, that's not bad for CR; I tell anyone who is shocked at the price that it is the only place I have ever been to that was worth every penny!

Mary in D.C.

P.S. And I'm sure if you'll to Lenox in the winter, it is, of course cheaper.

Jed, another thought based on what mei said, we went to CR in Tucson, but had breakfast with a staffer who worked in Lenox--she said during the week that Lenox was a much nicer place, because the clients weren't trying so hard to cram everything into a weekend and it was more relaxing and easier to get appointments (like for late afternoon massages, etc.

We love CR Lenox in the winter - beautiful! and worth every penny - call them, ask them for their absolute best rate - I find their customer service reps very accomodating via phone - and then still check their online rates and I often see specials on other sites as mentioned previously (plus yahoo, whatahotel, and manymore - google CR, Lenox, MA online and see what's offered.)

Also, rate usually includes $125 or so towards a beauty treatment and an exercise/private health appt., so if that is included in the 1000 anight/ 500 per person, take that and your 3 meals, snacks and all classes and seminars into consideration.

Do not miss the "What's in Your Pantry" seminar by Elizbeth. Every time I'm in the grocery store I still hear her voice in my head saying "don't you dare buy that for your family". It's not that I didn't know it, but she drove it home and now 2 years later, I'm still sticking with the principals and my family is eating much more healthfully.

and take a cooking class--you will get a credit that will cover that, too; it was excellent and I use all the recipes.
