The reports say that the hotel zone in Cancun was ruined. Check out this website for some pictures:

From someone I know in Cancun:
President Fox said that Cancun will be back on its feet by December (not sure if that's wishful thinking on his part). He's asked for $1.1 billion in reconstruction and recovery aid.
40% of buildings have suffered structural damage in Cancun and looting is widespread.
Cancun Intl. Airport is closed for now but expected to reopen tomorrow.
Tourists for now are being bused to Merida to fly out of there.

According to a newspaper report this morning, 90% of Cancun/PDC/Cozumel hotels have sustained "damage".Some beaches have disappeared and many roads are submerged. The Mexican government is estimating rebuilding will take 4 months.

Hi I found a good site www.palaceresorts.com and it gave me some good information, it said that the Moon Palace is ok only minor damage but the hotel is up and running and it was one the the hotels that gave shelter to the people while Wilma went through, it also gives information on other hotels in the area that were badly affected, hope this helps. I am going to the Moon Palace in April if anyone goes before than i would appreciate any feedback.

Hi Kalik, i also had a lot of trouble getting onto the palace site so i typed in damage to the Moon Palace Mexico and it comes up with different options underneath them there is a section saying (Cached) click on that and it will display the page for you. Have a great time in November i have also been before and cant wait to go back in April for my Honeymoon, look forward to your feedback once you have returned.
Hi Txvisitor i am not sure where the Moon Palace is in relation to the Royal resorts it is between cancun and Playa del Carmen, it is on the opposite side of the town to the Cancun Palace, hope this helps a little, Many Thanks.
