Can anyone help with New York City Trains?

Cannot find info regarding train from 911 Memorial to Time Square. I also plan to go to the HiLine from Time Square. Can anyone help? Thanks so much.

I use hopstop.com, or rather the hopstop app on my iphone.

Google maps is also handy for public transportation.

There are several subway routes that'll take you there.

hopstop.com gives you all options - foot, subway, bus, cab - between any two places in the city - with time and approximate cost for cabs.

However, before you get to the city you should get a good street map - so you have a reasonable idea where places are in relation to one another - and also a subway map - which will help you figure out which stops are express (so you can switch from one direction to another) or local (when you often have to enter on the correct side (uptown or downtown) side of the street.

I assume the HLIne is the Highline.

The more interesting part is down between the start at Gansveroot Street and 23rd Street.

I would take the A, C, or E, from 42nd and 8th Ave at the Port Authority to 14th Street and walk.

For 9/11 Memorial you can take 1,2,3 train at Times Square to Chambers Street.

The ACE (blue) will take you from the Memorial (WTC stop) to the High Line (14th/8th) and up to Times Square (42nd/8th)

There are several subway lines that will take you from lower Manhattan to Times Square, but the E train (World Trade Center stop near the Millennium Hilton to 14th Street) is the most convenient for the Highline. From 8th Avenue, you have to walk West past the Apple Store to reach the Highline entrance.

The 1 train (Rector Street stop) is probably the most convenient if you are going straight to Times Square.

Note that the NYC Subway Map app is great as you can route your trip from point A to point B, and it will serve up which trains you take, including transfers, etc.

Regarding subway apps, two of note, aside from HopStop, are :

NYCMate, which can display a street map overlay for any station, telling you where stairways to street level are located (and, thus, where the most desirable location is on the train); and

Subway Time, an MTA app that mimics the electronic "next train" signs in many stations. It uses the same electronic database the signs use, and it's useful to know which line to head for, depending upon (usually quite reliable) arrival times.

You're right. NYC Mate doesn't seem to be currently available. The developers seem to have abandoned it, but you might try inquiring by contacting them at:
