Buona sera Staita! Are you home or are you still in bella Italia?

I have been thinking of you and know your time in Venice has been wonderful..how could it not be?

Just returned from our great Italian restaurant here in Vacaville. Had mussel and clams in a tomato wine based sauce with good bread and a beautiful glass of merlot. Take care dear one!

I'm home now, LoveItaly. Wishing I was back in magical Venezia.

And...missing mussels, not to mention gnocchi, ravioli, liver with onions and polenta and the likes. We REALLY need an Italian restaurant here on the island. But, there unfortunately isn't one. It was Chinese take-out for us tonight.

Buona sera CaliNurse, how are you?

I am happy to share the information regarding our wonderful restaurant in Vacaville.

Name: Saltato's
Address 535-A Main St., Vacaville,Ca 95688
Ph No. 707-450-0412
Fax No. 707-450-0403

Robert Cicornio, Executive Chef
Karen Ruffini, Pastry Chef

At this point in time CaliNurse there hours are Tuesday thru Thursday 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Friday and Saturday 5:00pm to 10:00pm. Closed Sundays and Mondays.

Later on they will also be open for lunch.

And come spring they will be serving in their patio (brick paved) which will be like an outdoor Italian Cafe, market umbrellas etc. They have received the city permits but will wait until spring due to winter arriving.

They now take reservations (I think they got tired of me nagging them LOL) for parties under six the day that you want the reservation. For parties of six or more reservations can be made in advance.

Coming up I-80 from SF/Oakland etc. you would, when getting to Vacaville, take the Davis St. turnoff. Follow Davis St. going north (right) to Main St. Turn left on Main St. and go down Main. Saltato's will be on your right. Gads, can't remember, it is either one or two blocks. You can't miss it.

Warm, lovely interior, a counter for those that want to sit and watch the chefs at the exposed cooking area (which is fun), wonderful food, great wine list, no rushing you in and out (rather like Italy that way), very clean etc. They also are expanding their space. I was amazed for a Thursday evening how many customers they had. Guess a lot of people are tired of all the chain restaurants.

I hope you can come up here and experience this restaurant. And no, LOL, I have no financial interest. Just happy to see an independent restaurant do so well. And so thrilled to have a place to go into where I can get fabulous food and feel like I am in Italy so to speak for awhile. Best wishes to you.

Welcome home Statia. I truly understand how you miss the food of Italy!! BTW, you and I obviously love the same type of food. Right down to the liver and onions, sigh. The only thing I cannot eat is the polenta as I am allergic to corn. Life is tough at times, LOL. Do you like the risotto? I sure do. And although I never eat peas I love the risotto with peas when I am in Veneto.

Hope you can find a few moments to tell us about your trip. In the meantime take good care and have a beautiful weekend.
