Cab fare from NYC to JFK?
Hi,
I live right by the mid-town tunnel and I'm curiuos if anyone knows how much a cab would cost from the tunnel to JFK. My flight is at 7 AM which means I would leave my place around 5:30 AM because I don't expect that there will be too much traffic. I read that Mid-town to JFK is a little less than 15 miles so I can do the math on a cab ride. But, perhaps someone knows better from experience. Thanks!!!

Check out the following link for airport transportation information.
http://www.panynj.gov/aviation/jgrtfram.htm
Gives information on bus, airtrain
and cab.
Although it is a flat 35 dollar fare from JFK to Manhattan, it will be metered from Manhattan to JFK. Depending on traffic delays youre looking at 50 dollars plus tolls and tip.

I should have also mentioned starting May 3rd taxi rates go up. Initial charge from 2.00 up to 2.50 and every tick of the meter up a dime from 30 to 40 cents. This will probably increase the fare another 7-10 bucks to JFK.

Given you live near the tunnel and it's 5:30am, it should be a very quick ride. I guess given the tolls and rate increase, it could cost $40-50. Ypu can also give a car servicer company a call to see what they charge. Sometimes it's not much different from a cab and they will be at your door at the given time (we've been using Carmel).
