Hi,
Does anyone know when they begin the horseback rides in the Spring?

My mother and I are planning a trip to Bryce in mid-March next year. I think this would be a great way to see the Canyon (my Mom's not a big hiker).
BTW: your knees shouldn't hurt after a day of riding horses, your inner thighs however will sore if you're not used ot it.

Re the start of rides at Bryce. Just so you know, Bryce is at 8,000 ft. so there is a chance there will still be snow in mid-March. I don't know for sure, but I would think they don't start rides into the canyon until at least May.

Just give Ruby's a call & ask.

CL9:
I once spent a few days in Bryce at the end of April and there was 6' of snow towards the end of the park (the higher elevations) and blizzard-like conditions (and 20 degrees) most of the time we were there. We couldn't even hike - the trails were too icy. I seriously doubt they'd have mule rides in March, if it was this bad at the end of April!

I finally found the answer on my own.
They start in April, although I don't know exactly when.

thanks

Just thought I'd post back that our horseback ride through Red Canyon, near Bryce, was excellent!!
We had a blast! They assigned us all horses, with my 15 year old son getting a black mule which definitely had a mind of his own (they were perfect for each other). My husband weighs about 230 pounds, they assigned him the biggest horse they had. Each of our animals had very clear personalities. By the time the ride ended, I felt like I knew my horse a bit. Having never rode before, it was really an adventure. We all had a great time, the wranglers were excellent pointing out views, etc.
They took each of our pictures at a turn at the beginning of the trail. When we returned, they had 8X10 pictures available for us to purchase for $5.00 a piece.
Red Canyon was just beautiful! Tricia

Hey Tricia!

Glad you had a good time on your first riding adventure. You couldn't have picked a better place. Now you're spoiled. Next you'll have to go to Montana or Wyoming to top it.
