Broadway/Off Broadway etc for kids??

I'm again taking my 2 nephews 8 and 11 to NYC end of July. We are seeing Blue Man Group and Stomp, and from this board prior we already saw Slava's Snowshow, which was EXCELLENT.

What I am looking for is something good again for this age. The New Victory has nothing when we are there. Any suggestions??? AND thanks for the help.

I haven't seen it, but I think Drumstruck is supposed to be fun--the audience gets to participate--everyone gets a drum.

Not sure but I think Drumstruck might be a bit too similar to Stomp. So you're looking for a third thing beyond Blue Man and Stomp? How about something ON Broadway? Lion King, Wicked or Spamalot are the obvious choices but no discounts. What about Hairspray or Dirty Rotten Scoundrels or the Wedding Singer?

What about Tarzan? It's perfect for boys that age, and there may be some tickets available for the end of July if you book soon enough. There is more than enough spectacle to hold a little boy's interest, and if they've seen the Disney movie they'll enjoy it more.

I don't think I'd suggest Spamalot or Dirty Rotten Scoundrelsfor this age- 8 is a little young, and the humor may go over his head (or be a little racy).

Lion King is moving to a new theatre, the Minskoff. It will begin performances there next week, so you'll be fine for your trip.

We are traveling to NY in August. We have tickets for Blue Man and Jersey Boys. What are your thoughts on Jersey Boys for a 7 year old? Already saw Lion King and Stomp last year.

Jersey Boys, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Spamalot are not good choices for 7-to-11-year-olders.
Hairspray would be a good choice. Discount tickets are available on playbill.com and broadwaybox.com.

I think Jersey Boys probably has a bit too much language for a 7-year-old, and the story isn't really appropriate.

In addition to Tarzan, I would offer Drumstruck as an excellent choice- I believe it is a different concept than Stomp. It's part show, part interactive African drumming (each person gets a drum to play!). It's really a lot of fun, and perfect for kids. Better yet, it is not very expensive.

What about the 29th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee?
Funny, and I would think appropriate for those ages.

I called the Blue Man box office directly, saved about $15 in ticketmaster fees, $315 for 4 tickets, never any discounts. (4th time seeing the show)

Stomp, I'll be using Playbill, Broadway Box, or TKTS. Since it's for a Tues, I expect I will be able to get the discounted tickets. Have also seen this twice before.

Overall, not a lot for kids, I did end up with Lion King Tickets- back in row T but- Oh well. We'll enjoy it anyway.
