Briefly, in WNY

Thanks again, KathyK. Good to know your friends liked the two-bedroom suite at the Hotel at the Lafayette.
I can just imagine the struggle in Snyder over the construction of the Hyatt. Unlike other nearby communities, Snyder just doesn't seem to have room for more development, especially along Main Street.
I think both Tappo and Osteria would be good options for dinner. My friend and I will most likely stay in the neighborhood while our husbands go to the ball game. And, depending on our arrival late Sunday afternoon, we may stick to the neighborhood then, too, or go further afield.

I'm not sure what you mean by staying in the neighborhood but your hotel is surrounded by mostly office buildings and on Sunday and Monday night it will be quiet. Have a great time in WNY and please come back with a trip report!

Okay if my report is a year late? I'll be succinct, partly because I have lost many of the details!
Saturday’s farmers market in the Village of Williamsville was a great way to start our day and we were able to pick up info on the garden walk at a table on Main Street in front of the library. Well, it wasn't a walk for us because the gardens we chose to see were at a distance from one another. So we drove. We really enjoyed two in particular: on Hirshfield Drive, we saw a marvelous display of hosta—large, small, and in-between—creating a singular landscape in the shade. The other was on North Ellicott, a very private escape created on a rather small property, with three water features! One would never guess what magic is hidden behind the greenery seen from the street! (We did overhear two women lamenting that the garden on Oakgrove was not on the tour this year!)
Sunday, we transferred to the Hotel at the Lafayette. We could do Thanksgiving in our suite here! Our two-bedroom suite had two full bathrooms, living room with sofa, easy chairs, and TV, (TVs in both bedrooms too, IIRC), dining area with table for six I think, and full-size appliances in the fully equipped kitchen. It was a great choice! Thanks for suggesting it! (When we return to WNY next year with other relatives, I can foresee that we will be debating between the Hotel at the Lafayette and the Hotel Henry.)
The next day, we had reservations for a tour at the amazing Darwin Martin house, the restored gem designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for an executive of the very-prominent-in-its-day Larkin Soap Company. This tour was a bit different from one we had done a few years earlier: work was continuing in some parts of the main house so they were off the tour. Instead we saw the sister’s house located nearby on the property.
After a tasty lunch at CRaVing on Hertel Avenue, we took a tour at the Wilcox Mansion on Delaware Avenue, the inaugural. site of Theodore Roosevelt after the assassination of William McKinley at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo in 1901.
Nice visit to some old familiar spots and to some new ones. Thanks, as always, for all the help!
